Spring news
As March turns into April, I begin to feel spring with all my senses. The colours get more saturated, the smell of green starts filling the air and even though I know it’s cheesy, I get a certain sense of hope that is typical for spring.
I have to tell you my transition from Winter to Spring has been beautiful this year. I was invited to spend some time in Rome and later in Seville, two cities that flooded me with inspiration; I met wonderful people, I painted, walked miles and taught painting. There’s something about painting with others that truly fills my heart with joy, gives me a unique sense of community and belonging. As the workshop turned out to be quite successful, I will most probably be coming back to Seville next year. If you’d like to learn portraiture from me, you can already pencil similar time (second half of March) in 2027 and await news closer to these dates.
See below a few pictures from my trips.

There are two more exciting pieces of news I’d like to share.
First of all, my painting ‚ my painting ‘Sunday visit’ has been shortlisted for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition. It is a very special show with a long tradition (dating back to 1769) and in the past it has featured works by Tracy Emin, David Hockney, Wim Wenders and much earlier the likes of Turner and Constable. This year’s shortlist is for now only a partial success as there’s still the last round to go through but given the circumstances (18 000 artworks have been submitted) it already feels like recognition.
The subject of this year's exhibition is Interconectedness.
‘Sunday Visit’ is a portrait depicting a scene in my grandparents’ home. It is the only place that has remained unchanged since my childhood, which makes being there deeply nostalgic. Watching my children in that setting feels like gazing into a mirror of the past. The bond they share with their great-grandparents is something special: they can talk and compare experiences, my grandfather recalling his earliest memories of the Second World War, while the children remind them of what it feels like to be young, both now and always. Painting this scene also made me reflect on how lonely childhood can sometimes feel, and how each of us must learn to live apart from others, for in the end there is no plural to one’s life.

Oil on canvas, 50x70cm.
Another one of my paintings ‚Last day of summer’ has been selected for the Society of Women Artists 165th Annual Exhibition and will be exhibited at Mall Galleries in London from 23rd to 27th June 2026. It’s my second time exhibiting with this society and I couldn’t be more excited!

Lastly, I’ll be hosting another 3-day workshop with a life model in my studio in Lodz, Poland between 23 and 25th July. You can find direct flights from London, Dublin, Brussels, Milan and a few other cities. I will be sending a separate email with all the details soon but I just wanted to share the dates as soon as they’re confirmed so that we can all plan ahead.
